At a ceremony in May at TenarisConfab’s facilities in May, the Roberto Rocca Education Program awarded its fourth annual Scholarships in Brazil. This year marked a special occasion with the incorporation of Techint Engineering & Construction as a program sponsor.

Once again, Scholarships went to undergraduate engineering students at the Centro Universitário da FEI, Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo, Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, Escola de Engenharia de Lorena,  Faculdade de Engenharia de Guaratinguetá and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. This year also marked the first year that Scholarships were awarded to students from the Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI).

Tulio Chipoletti, Tenaris Area Manager for Brazil, opened the event.  “I was also a college student and I know how hard it is sometimes to meet your expenses.  I am sure this program will help you graduate,” he stated.

Roberto Paolini, HR Director for Techint Engineering & Construction, told the students that the initiative was aligned with the sponsoring companies’ philosophy that human resources are an organization’s key asset and that talent should be nurtured.

Calling Techint’s Engineering & Construction’s first year as a sponsor in Brazil a success, Lodovico Rocca, Vice-president ot Techint Brazil, said: “The idea is to help people with good academic results and Brazil is full of these people. I am really pleased with the initiative.”  Rocca added he was especially pleased that nearly half of the awardees were women.

Summing up the sentiment of many of her fellow awardees, Maylle Emmerick said she appreciated the Scholarship as recognition of the effort she has made to excel academically. She added that was also grateful to have had the opportunity to intern with TenarisConfab. “I had contact with high-level professionals. It was a great experience”, she said.
